Greater Europe Mission (GEM) Refugee Mission Trip

Thousands of refugees are coming to Greece as their first stop on the way to what they hope will be a better life in Northern Europe. They arrive with almost nothing, having survived the dangerous crossing from Turkey, and have to face many difficulties as they arrive in Europe.

For some time now GEM has been involved with efforts to help these people adjust. This help is in the form of food and water, blankets and sleeping bags, as well as guidance and a friendly face. As transitions have come to a stand-still, most people are staying longer on Lesvos and more hands are needed to help plant churches and engage in evangelism and discipleship.

Teams come for a 2 week project and immediately get involved in assisting the refugees where needed. Everything is arranged for you from the moment you first set foot on the island to when you leave, including accommodation, food, transportation, and ministry assignments to meet the needs.

Would you consider being someone who shows powerfully love to these refugees seeking hope and freedom? These are people coming to us from places we could not easily go, or could never go, with the Gospel. Many of them speak English and many are open to hearing about the love of Christ. No special skills are needed, just a loving heart, a willingness to serve, and a passion for the lost thousands who are making this trek across Europe. If you feel the Spirit’s call to help in this situation, come on Sunday night, March 31 at 6 pm to hear more about a mission trip South is considering sending in January or February of 2020.
