Luke In The Land by Kristi McLelland
In our Bibles, we have four Gospels describing Jesus’s time on earth: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The land of Israel—the place Jesus walked and taught during His earthly ministry—is often referred to as the “fifth Gospel.” Follow Kristi McLelland through Israel as we study snapshots from the Gospel of Luke to see where the stories of the Bible took place. Over 7 sessions in this Bible study workbook, challenge the way you read the accounts of Jesus through teaching videos that take you to locations in Israel like Bethlehem, the Sea of Galilee, Gethsemane, Jerusalem, and the road to Emmaus. Along the way, you’ll see how Jesus, the Messiah, brought His kingdom to earth for everybody.

SPUR is devoted to prompting spiritual growth and leadership among men. Spur is made up of meaningful times of prayer, Bible study, book study, sharing, learning and growing in our walk with Jesus. New believer or seasoned believer, if you want to learn how to walk with Jesus, come join us and we will learn and grow together. New men, age 21+, are always welcome and can jump in anytime.

South Church will present “All Nature Sings”, an oratorio by songwriter and composer, Phillip Keveren on May 3 & 4 and 6pm in the Worship Center. The South Church Choir and Orchestra will be joined by students from Lansing Christian School and guest singers from the Steiner Chorale. All song lyrics are taken directly from great hymns of the faith. This concert takes the place of our regularly scheduled Easter celebration. Come for a wonderful night of music celebrating the glory of our Lord.
We will be having an Outreach Ministry Fair May 4-18. Visit the tables in the Concourse and the Gathering on Sunday mornings to learn about the many opportunities to engage in outreach around greater Lansing. There are opportunities to serve the people in our community, assist those who work in outreach positions, and engage in outreach yourself. There’s something for everyone!
Baptism Classes are coming up for those who are interested in being baptized at our next baptismal service on June 1, 2025. Attend both April 27 and May 4 classes. 9:30 am-10:30 am in Room 202.

This Sunday we will have the opportunity to celebrate communion together, live and online. We are glad for the opportunity to participate again in something that followers of Jesus have been celebrating for over 2000 years, as we focus on the atoning death of our Savior.
Not all of us we will be able to be together physically, but we will be together spiritually, sharing in God’s Word, so we put together this “Communion at Home Guide” for you.
- Prepare your own bread and cup to use during the communion time.
- Before the service, spend time prayerfully reflecting on the sacrifice of Jesus. We encourage you to read passages like Luke 22:7-20 and 1 Corinthians 11: 23-28 to help you prepare as well.
- Spend time examining your heart before the service. We believe that the Communion meal is for believers, members of Christ’s body, who are sincerely following Him.
- Talk to your kids about communion. Perhaps share your story of coming to faith in Christ with them (and guide them as to whether they themselves should participate at this time).
- Join us for our online service this Sunday at 9:30 a.m.!
We’re so looking forward to worshipping together with you, as we share in music of worship, receive God’s Word and celebrate communion together.
We are currently offering two morning services – the Creative Service in the Chapel, and the Balanced Service in the Worship Center. Adult Bible Communities, children’s ministries and nursery are offered during both services.

Church Membership
Church membership is about belonging to one another and becoming like Jesus. It is the way for individual Christians to make their formal commitment to the South Church family. In becoming a church member, individuals express their submission to the leadership of the church in accordance with the teaching of Scripture and the doctrinal statement of South Church.
Requirements for South Church Membership:
- Personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Committed to corporate worship and personal devotion to Christ and His Word.
- Baptism as a believer—at South Church we practice believer’s baptism by immersion. According to the command of Jesus himself and consistent with New Testament teaching, those who have consciously turned from their sin and put their personal faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized as an outward sign of their commitment to Him as Savior and Lord.
- Membership Course—attend The Membership Course that is normally offered three times during the year.
